

Paramedic Training
Paramedics in New Jersey provide advanced
care to seriously sick or injured patients. Working in conjunction with
EMT's paramedics are permitted to administer medications, insert advanced
airways and perform advanced skills.
Underwood-Memorial Hospital offers New
Jersey Paramedic training in conjunction with Camden County College.
Students take their classroom training at the Camden County College and do
their hospital training and paramedic field training at Underwood Memorial
Hospital. Prior to attending the paramedic program students must first be
certified as an
Emergency
Medical Technician.
Classes begin in September and January and
follow the college semester. Applications should be submitted prior to
July 15 for admission into the September class and November 15 for
admission into the January class. However admissions are rolling and may
be accepted until all spaces are filled. Entry into the program is
selective, students will be expected to sit for an interview and complete
an EMT written pretest.
This part time program will meet during the
day or the evening depending on the college schedule and takes most
students about 2 1/2 years to complete. Currently there is also an
accelerated program that take approximately 14 months to complete. The
training program can lead to an associates degree in Paramedic Science or
a certificate as a paramedic.
Persons interested in applying should have
some EMS experience and the desire to complete these rigorous class.
